Sage arrived at school on a Tuesday morning with her mother Sarah.

We welcomed Sage and Sarah by starting the day with a typical French breakfast.

The children were very excited to meet them. Sage is a 10 year old American girl who lives in Vermont. Her family had Candice (one of our CM1 students) as a guest at her house and in her school for 3 weeks during the “Toussaint” vacation. Sage has French lessons in Vermont but speaks very little French. So our students had to speak English to communicate with her.

Sage stayed in the CM1:1 class with Candice and she participated in French and English activities.

During this period Sarah came to school and read stories to the children in pre-school. She also read to the CM1 classes the Story of Vermont “How to make maple syrup” she also bought maple syrup so that all the children could taste it.

The last day we had a cooking activity with Gil. We made “apple tarts” a typical French dessert. Then, Sage presented the essay she had prepared on her school in the Vermont to us. Our students loved sharing this information, for school in the U.S.A is very different from French school.

At the end of the day we shared our apple pies with the other two CM1 classes. Our CM1 students were very implicated and communicated well with Sage during her stay.

We were all very sad to see Sage leave.
